Judy Dworin Performance Project Presents

Judy Dworin 2

One Night Only, Monday December 8, 2014 at Hartford Stage at 7:30 p.m.

In My Shoes brings the authentic voices and real-life experiences of women from prison to the stage, in this spirited, soul-searching performance piece. With startling clarity and compassion, In My Shoes examines the choices and twists of fate that lead to incarceration; the perseverance and hope, atonement and redemption found in walks during “time in;” the pathways out of prison; and what it means to be truly free. It is performed with warmth and wit by six women who have reentered Connecticut communities from York Correctional Institution, joined by JDPP’s award-winning Ensemble in a riveting and provocative evening that should not be missed!

We support Judy Dworin Performance Project and have enjoyed the art produced over the 25 years of the Projects life. If one could compare dance performance to writing her work resembles more that of a great poet than someone writing flowery prose or imitation. Judy Dworin takes issues that we need to stop and explore, puts them up on the stage and says what needs to be said. We know while attending a performance of the Judy Dworin Performance Project we are in the presence of art and from the opening to the ending these works are guaranteed to move us from one place to the next.

This sounds really good. I wish I could make it up from New Haven for the evening but will be out of state. I have always admired Judy and the performers and what they bring to art not only in Hartford but to the world. The Witching Hour (revised addition) was one of the best I have seen and glad you have a link to it. Your review was pretty darn good too. One thing I know I wish that I could see more of her work.Yes it is flowing poetry.
