PRIDE Is More Than A Trinket Tribe. PRIDE is about a Revolutionary Movement and People!

It is in everyone’s  power and our right to replace this profit-drive, war driven system. This is not a dream of some of us on the left but is a reality when one looks around at what is happening in this country. U.S Capitalism has failed miserably to  meet the basic needs of people. There is a whole world out there struggling outside our windows and doors and we are blinded to this struggle. We turn our backs on our own stories, on your own people’s history who lead the social movements seeking justice and freedom for all. We must return to the soul of our movement.

As Queers we know that it is only the foolish among us who thing that we can stand alone with one issue or issues that concern only us. Not only foolish but selfish. We must stand in solidarity with others or we will be picked off one by one. As queers we must remember and know full well what it is like to be victims of witch-hunting and of stereotyping.  We know what it is like to be attacked. We  must never allow the neo-fascists to terrorize us all into submission and compliance by their creating a climate of fear. We must form a broad base coalition with others fighting oppression and seeking liberation. Then and only then will we be free.

Queers are fully aware that we as a community do not live in isolation from others communities. We know that war, racism, sexism, poverty, health concerns, youth violence, the pipe line to prison, environmental justice, religious intolerance, racial and ethnic profiling, tax cuts for the wealthy, the slashing of critical programs for people, attacks on civil liberties and immigrant rights are our issues our everyday issues.
